Andrey Syaylev was born in 1982 in Tashkent. He graduated from Samara Art College and studied at Samara Pedagogical University. In 2004, together with Vladimir Logutov, he organized Art Chaos festival. In 2008, he worked in the department of cinema and video art of the State Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow. In 2010-2011 he was a curator of One Work Gallery, Samara. From 2010 to 2014 he was a member of art group Laboratory (together with Vladimir Logutov, Ilya Samorukov, Konstantin Zatsepin, and Oleg Elagin). In 2016 he was the art director of the international festival Volgafest. Among his solo exhibitions: Composition (Guelman Projects, Moscow, 2009), Simultaneousities (Globus Gallery, Saint Petersburg, 2010), Read / Draw (Samara Regional Art Museum, 2011); selected group exhibitions: Nothing Of The Sort (Museum of Moscow, 2013), Not A Museum. *Laboratory Of Aesthetic Suspicions (art space New Industry, Saint Petersburg, 2014), No Time (Center for Contemporary Art WINZAVOD, Moscow, 2015). Participated in numerous video art festivals in Russia, Ukraine, and Italy. Winner of the Open City competition in the Art Project category (Samara, 2005), of the video art festival NO-Festival (Chelyabinsk, 2008). Lives and works in Samara.
