The exhibition is a result of work of the research team. On the basis of archival materials, family archives, and expeditions, it offers to take a look at the history of the avant-garde of the Big Ural as a part of multifaceted and in a way mystic history of the region.

The research of the avant-garde of the Ural cities reveals an important feature of the region — a conjunction of aspirations towards the new with a big number of prohibitions. Avant-garde turned out to be so tabooed, that it took two decades of work of enthusiasts to teach us to see and perceive its heritage.
